Talking About Writing Instead of Writing a.k.a SSDD.

November 10, 2010

So, I’ve realized that I find it almost impossible to write something creative of my own accord when I have work to finish. Don’t get me wrong, I love my job, but it’s always when I think about what I have to write that I remind myself of all my unfinished creative endeavors. That’s followed by me promptly wanting to work on said endeavors, but then feeling hindered by my impending work. I need to be more proactive about my writing when I’m in between paid writing gigs. I have so many short stories that I’m absolutely in love with (yes, my own stories that I’m in love with. But fuck it, that’s the way it SHOULD be.) and would really like to finish, but I just keep losing the drive to. It’s bad. I need to stop doing that and use my free time (since I have enough of it) more wisely.

While I’m on the topic, does anyone know of any good places to submit short stories? And does anyone know of good place to go for starting a zine? Two things I very much want to work on right now. All help appreciated, thanks!
